Student opportunities and activities
At School
At school and through small school alliances, your child can engage in STEM and coding activities that build essential skills for the future. They can take part in academic competitions and critical thinking workshops designed to challenge their minds and inspire creativity. Our visual arts showcases give students a chance to display their artistic talents, while whole-school inclusion and wellbeing initiatives help foster a supportive community where every child belongs.
Beyond the School Setting
Your child can also shine on the NSW stage through programs like The Premier’s Spelling Bee, which strengthens vocabulary and attention to detail in a fun, competitive environment. The Schools Spectacular and CAPERS are highlight events that celebrate diversity and creativity through performing arts, uniting students from across NSW public schools.
Sport and Leadership
For those passionate about sports and leadership, the Premier’s Sporting Challenge encourages active participation with leadership opportunities and professional learning for our staff. PSSA events, allows students to trial and compete at regional, state and national levels, building discipline, commitment and teamwork.

Our extra-curricular highlights
School sport, athletics and inter-school competitions
Our school is proud to offer a vibrant sports program that encourages students to stay active, develop new skills, and enjoy the spirit of teamwork. Through the support of Sporting Schools’ grants, we regularly bring expert coaches to our school, giving students the opportunity to experience a wide variety of sports throughout the year. These sessions provide valuable coaching and inspire students to try new activities, fostering a lifelong love of sport and healthy living.
In addition to our in-school programs, we actively participate in several interschool sports days each year. These events allow our students to compete, collaborate, and build friendships with peers from other schools, while showcasing their skills and school spirit. Together, these opportunities create a well-rounded sporting experience that supports physical development, confidence, and a strong sense of community.
GRIP Leadership conferences
The GRIP Leadership Conferences provide our students with invaluable opportunities to develop essential leadership skills in an engaging and supportive environment. Through interactive workshops, team-building activities, and inspiring presentations, students learn how to communicate effectively, make confident decisions, and work collaboratively. These conferences empower our students to take on leadership roles within the school and their wider communities, fostering a sense of responsibility, resilience, and self-confidence that benefits them both now and into the future.
Creative and performing arts
Our students are offered exciting opportunities to immerse themselves in the creative and performing arts, enhancing their learning through vibrant and interactive experiences. We regularly visit theatres to enjoy a variety of shows, musicals, and plays that are carefully selected to complement our school’s music, drama, and art programs, providing meaningful and relevant learning opportunities. Conveniently located halfway between Tamworth and Gunnedah, our students benefit from easy access to a diverse range of performing arts events in both towns, allowing them to engage with professional productions and further develop their appreciation and skills in the arts.
Trips and excursions
Our students have the exciting opportunity to participate in a wide variety of trips and excursions that enrich their learning beyond the classroom. We travel far and wide, exploring vibrant cities, natural wonders, and cultural landmarks, offering our students unique experiences that broaden their horizons. These journeys are thoughtfully designed to complement the curriculum, providing practical, hands-on learning that enhances understanding and engagement.
Closer to home, we also take full advantage of the rich educational opportunities available in our local area. Students explore museums, historical sites, environmental reserves, and community events, deepening their connection to their surroundings and fostering a sense of curiosity and discovery. Through this diverse range of excursions, we aim to inspire lifelong learning and create memorable experiences that contribute to the growth and development of every student.
